19-12-21 Phil Smith Memorial Charity match results – River Derwent top stretch (alongside the pond).

Elliott Boam caught 3 grayling, a dace and a few minnows for the win off newly created peg 17.

£80 was raised for charity today. Well done to everyone who took part.

17-10-21 Roy Melbourne Memorial Match results – River Derwent

Roy was match secretary of Belper Angling Club for over 20 years, he created many pegs on the river with the help of volunteers and his Christmas matches had 160 anglers in attendance.

22-08-21 – John Mason Memorial Match results – River Derwent sewerage works section

This years winner is Mark Gregory with a weight of 3lb 5oz from peg 4 above the pontoon bridge. Mark fished waggler and maggot catching roach. £60 was raised for charity, well done to everyone who took part.

09-08-21 – River Derwent top stretch (alongside the pond) match results.

A bit of extra flow but little colour in the river tonight.

1st Sam Wildsmith 4lb 13oz, peg 6 – waggler and maggot.

2nd Terry Gough 2lb 2oz, peg 9 – waggler and maggot.

3rd Tony Carline 2lb 1oz, peg 2 – whip over groundbait with maggot hookbait.

08-08-21 – River Derwent sewerage works section open Match Results

Fished in heavy rainstorms, although the river remained fairly clear and was hard going for most, bites mainly coming in the last hour as the river began to colour up and a bit of extra flow. Winner Martin fished peg 16 with flat float and worm and netted 2 big perch, Mark on peg 12 had 30 roach on waggler and maggot, Paul on peg 17 fished bolo and maggot for a mixture of roach and perch.

The rain last week definitely improved sport on the river, some lovely fish caught tonight. Bob Harrison with a roach over a pound on waggler and maggot, Leo fishing the river for the first time also caught a pound plus roach on chopped worm on the pole. Highlight of the match was a 4lb 8oz Ide caught on waggler and maggot by Sam Wildsmith.

25-07-21 – Frank Posiak Memorial Pairs Match results – River Derwent sewerage works section

14 anglers took part in todays memorial match. The hope was that the roach that have been showing would give a good days sport, but today they were notable by their absence. Some nice perch caught and Roger Stone had a good day on the pipe peg number 1, catching roach, perch, grayling and dace.

Overall pairs winners: Roger Stone and Bryan Woolley

Runners up: Mark Gregory and Stefan Harhat

Nine fished the Monday night match with the river fishing pretty hard with very little colour.

Eight Anglers fished a low clear river this evening with Asa Cooper winning of peg 6 with 6lb 2oz followed by Bob of peg 8 with 4lb 2oz.

Well done to all who fished.

Open match this Sunday on the Sewerage works stretch and Evening match next Monday on Wyver Lane stretch.

Been on Monday night match at Belper on the river at back of pond. Started on the waggler for 10 minutes with no bites. Went on pole at 13 meters catching 81 small Dace 20 odd small roach and 2 gudgeon; all on the pole over groundbait. Three hour match, 6 ‘til 9pm, weighing 6 lb 4 oz to win the match happy days😀😀😀👍👍👍

The river was still low and clear last night and it fished hard. Pegs 1-8 were fished and all anglers caught.

Bob fished the waggler with loosefeed and caught better fish than those who fed groundbait. Groundbait drew in lots of small dace which resulted in lots of missed bites for most.

River Derwent Regular Monday Evening Match Dates for 2022:

Fished each Monday evening from the start of the river season until the light fades too much to make an evening match viable. Fish from 6pm until 9pm.
